Interested in learning more about how you can help conserve your land and water?

We’re excited to work with you! Below you’ll find information about easements, a landowner information packet, and testimonials from our current landowners.

What is a Conservation Easement?

A conservation easement is a voluntary legal agreement between a landowner and a qualified conservation organization that identifies and protects the “conservation values” of a property by restricting non-compatible uses of the property. The landowner retains full ownership and use of the property and can still sell or transfer ownership of the land down the road. Conservation easements “run with the land” and remain in effect for all subsequent owners. Conserving your land often can provide significant financial benefits.

While each conservation easement is unique to the property it is designed to protect, RiGHT’s easements typically limit: residential development, subdivision of the property, major alterations of important habitat, surface mining, and the ability to sell water rights off of the land. For more information about conservation easements, view our Landowner Information Packet, and feel free to contact us with questions and to discuss possibilities for the future of your land.
